Nottingham Forest v. Real Betis

In July 2018, Nottingham Forest played Real Betis at the Estadio Nuevo Mirador. It was a pre-season friendly match in Spain Whilst Nottingham Forest did not win the game, their manager thought it was a pretty good game for them.

Real Betis scored a late goal five minutes from time, by striker Ryan Boudebouz. Forest played well and was well organized against a team who will be playing European football. Betis did have much of the early play, and Forest was quite defensive, trying to stop Betis getting through.

Around 30 minutes, it looked as though Daryl Murphy had good control of the ball, but he could not get the space to take a shot, and a Betis defender got in there to stop him. At 53 minutes Murphy managed to get in a good header, but this was deflected by the Betis goalkeeper.

Just before the hour mark Betis’ Adlene Guedioira took a low shot, and this was just saved by Forest’s goalkeeper by his fingertips. Hillal Soudani was brought in from the substitute’s bench. Jordan Smith makes a good save.  The final score was 0-1 to Betis.

Nottingham Forest’s manager Aitor Karanka spoke after the game to say: “I am pleased because I thought we played a very good game. We played against a very good team, last season Betis was very good and they are going to play Europa League this season.” Karanka thought that Nottingham Forest were organized, made good transitions, had no injuries and a good pace.
